At Creekside Elementary School, on the third day of third grade, students rotated through classrooms to meet all the third-grade teachers.

Each classroom featured a different activity incorporating a book focused on growth mindset, inclusion, celebrating differences and the importance of having and being a buddy.

Students also completed activities in their own classrooms centered around the number three.

It was a great day in third grade!

Creekside Elementary School students showed the power of teamwork and generosity by raising more than $2,300 for Relay For Life through Change Wars and a Culver’s fundraiser night.

As a reward for their efforts, principal Tyler Haymond and assistant principal Rebecca Hernandez took a splash in the dunk tank!

This year, Creekside's Relay For Life team is walking in honor of “Our Jens,” Creekside staff members Jen McClellan and Jen Bennecke, as they continue their recovery journeys after battling breast cancer over the past several years.

The team will participate in the Relay For Life event on June 6 at Busey Bank Field in Joliet.

Representing Creekside this year are team captain Denise Malik, Jen McClellan, Wendy Wisneski, Erin Pangrazio, Laura Martinez, Carrie Blomquist, Cathie Gans, Piper Garcia, Allison Pharo, Kelli Narducci, Kelli Kocurek, Stephanie Schwingel, Stephanie Koska, Stacey Vander Heide and Denise Wilson.

Thank you to our students, staff, and families for supporting the fight against cancer and making a difference in our community.
