District 202 Superintendent of Schools Dr. Glenn Wood visited Creekside Elementary School on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, to talk to the Student Council Club about leadership and what he does as the Superintendent. “The students really enjoyed listening to Dr. Wood and asked so many great questions,” Creekside Elementary School third grade teacher Piper Garcia said.
The District 202 Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC) hosted its first school year meeting at Creekside Elementary School this past week. Our Multilingual families learned about English Learner Programs, upcoming assessments, and the Home Access Center.

“My tata’s hands can fly like magic.”
These are just a few examples of how kindergarten through second-grade students at Creekside Elementary School students view the hands of their grandmother or grandmother figure.
Students are taking a hands-on approach to learning about the beauty of generational and cultural connections.
They recently read “The Stories from My Grandmother’s Hands” by Dr. Resmaa Menakem and T. Mychael Rambo in class.
The students then wrote about their grandmother or grandmother figure and included pictures of their grandmother’s hands.
Their student artwork is now featured on the book’s website and can be found at https://thestoriesfrommygrandmothershands.com/love-stories/.

Last night, the Board of Education approved switching SIP days in September due to the LIV Golf tournament at Bolingbrook Country Club. Students will be in school on Monday, September 16, and off school on Friday, September 13. We are "pawsitivly" excited to wish our District 202 facility dogs a happy belated National Dog Day! These dogs - and their handlers - help our students and staff every day across the district. We hope you get lots of treats! #202proud
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory and excessive heat watch for our area until 8 p.m. Tuesday. District 202 uses the following guidelines on days with extremely hot and or humid weather:
• Recess/PE outdoors if the heat index is 90 degrees or below
• Recess/PE indoors if the heat index is above 95 degrees
The heat index takes into account both air temperature and relative humidity. If the heat index is between 91 degrees and 94 degrees principals can decide if students stay inside or go outdoors.
